As a gateway for the Niagara wine region, the Wine Visitor + Education Centre celebrates the Ontario and Canadian grape and wine industry through informative displays, tours, and an information centre to assist visitors in their exploration of wines and wine country.
Niagara College’s Wine Visitor + Education Centre (WVEC), a $3.6 million facility set in the College’s teaching vineyards, is a unique state-of-the-art industry centre that showcases Canadian wine, housing wine tourism information services, the Niagara College Teaching Winery, and academic and wine industry programming.
The operations of the Niagara College Teaching Winery, Canada’s first commercial teaching winery, are also housed in the Wine Visitor + Education Centre acting as a living laboratory for Niagara College’s wine, culinary, and tourism students. The winery has been designed to highlight the full range of production winemaking equipment and techniques for the making of student wines, and includes facilities and learning opportunities that range from the grape crush to selling the finished product in the Teaching Winery’s on-site retail store. The skilled Niagara College graduates will be in high demand in the wine, culinary, and hospitality and tourism industries in Niagara, across Canada, and throughout the world.
